I originally wanted to do an African tribal type war mask made of wood, but I figured it might look too cartoony.
So yeah, Influenced by african style war masks (ceremonial or not) to scare away your enemies or keep delinquent villages people in check.
I liked working on this because it was a weapon , but not a gun or blade or anything. I guess this is more for psychological warfare. strike fear into your enemies etc.
So what's scarier? 50 guys with AKs? or 50 guys with AKs wearing these masks?
if anyone's confused, the two images to the right are the final versions. The one to the left id just a version without the normal maps. I'll post the zbrush scuplt tomorrow.
Nice one. I have to admit, facing fifty guys with AKs would be scary but facing fifty guys with AKs and that mask would have anyone shitting themselves.

When I'm having a really bad day and it seems that people are trying to piss me off, all I have to do is remember, it takes 42 muscles to frown and only 4 to extend my middle finger and tell them to F*** OFF!
I think some of the normal details should have been used to accentuate the cracks that exist in the diffuse.
And there seems to be a bit of UV stretch in the upper right. I don't remember if zbrush has a clone-stamp thing like photoshop but if it does it would be good to use there.
Other than that, I like it. But I am curious to see what a good wood texture would look like on it. And maybe a little tribal war paint.
When did it suddenly become cool to hate everything? It's a growing problem, especially in the entertainment world, and no one benefits from an increasingly hard to please, pessimistic audience.
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article.

We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
